The Medical Radiation Practice Accreditation Committee is seeking applications from individuals interested in the accreditation function of the National Registration and Accreditation Scheme (the National Scheme).

Practitioners and Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Peoples with the requisite experience are invited to apply.

Medical Radiation Practice Board of Australia Chair Mark Marcenko said practitioner and community voices were important in helping to set the foundations of the medical radiation practice profession.

‘Appointment to the Medical Radiation Practice Accreditation Committee is an opportunity to help shape accreditation standards for the profession and also involves assessing programs of study and education providers,’ he said.

‘We need committee members with the skills and knowledge to ensure that medical radiation practitioners of the future have the necessary skills to practise safely which includes an understanding of culturally safe healthcare.’

The role of the committee is to:

  • develop accreditation standards for approval by the Medical Radiation Practice Board of Australia
  • assess education providers and programs of study, and
  • make recommendations and give advice to the Board.

Applicants must have:

  • an interest in accreditation in the National Scheme
  • demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with stakeholders.

Any of the following attributes is also a requirement:

  • recent experience in clinical education and assessment of students and registered practitioners
  • recent clinical education experience and expertise in ultrasound or MRI
  • formal qualifications in education
  • expertise in the accreditation or assessment of higher education programs, or
  • understanding of culturally safe healthcare for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples.
